Time to reflect

Excuse me a moment of refelection, just the one...

You know what? I am sitting here about to go and do the next day of C333, thinking what a bad day it has been, and now I am starting to reflect on what this is all about.....

Iain from Action Duchenne has told me of two families in Bournemouth, I hope I will meet them, they have been hit by DMD, it is in so many places.

I think of Alfie and having his calipers put on before he goes to bed, I think of his pain when he walks such a short distance, I think of his future and what it will bring, I think of Arthur, and hope it will be better, but thinking it will probably be similar, I think of their frustration as they grow as people and characters and at the same time grow weaker. I think of their parents, my boy is coming up to 20, more reflection. There must be a way to 'Stop The Wasting', there must be a way to find a solution, we must talk about it, make people aware.

Iain tells me there is hope, progress is being made, a positive. And from now, Challenge333, son of Challenge 639, (www.gearsandtears.com, click challenge 639) is about being positive.

I now feel down, but you know what, my day was not that bad, I can now go and run, I have that choice, and I will enjoy it.

The rest of this blog will be about my experience of this challenge, the different runs, of people getting involved, of another running club inviting me to join them for one of the runs, about the 29th, the last day, when we will have a bit of a run, a lot of smiles and a few laughs, as well as, I am sure, a few cakes.

This challenge is about awareness, but if you are moved to help, please go to www.marchantfamilytrust.org.uk and click on donate, if you want more information about Alfie and Arthur it is there as well. Full information about Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is at www.actionduchenne.org.

Thanks for reading, I am now off on one of the shorter runs, just 9k, I will enjoy it. Keep smiling...

Terry
